James Backus correspondence, 1802.

Correspondence written in 1802 to James Backus, in Norwich, Conn. includes a letter of Jan. 9 from Geo. Sheffield in reply to a request for a ship-builder to go to Marietta, Ohio; a letter of Feb. 2 from Thos. Lloyd regarding Mr. Sheffield's price for carpentry work; and a letter of July 6 from [Elijah?] Backus in Marietta seeking a place in the James Milhouse family or elsewhere for his little girl to "have advantage of society and a dancing school."
